Queenly Rewards

She skipped meals.
She lost sleep.
She missed gym.
Her stress level hit the roof and beyond.
.
All because she needs to put food on the table. And green (and blue and purple ones too!) bills in her wallet, of coz.

Lady Garden Topiary

I stopped counting after I used up all the fingers on both my hands. :)
.
That’s for the number of folks who’ve thanked me for opening the door to the BW world to them. Some of them are boyfriends of the gals who are now frequent Fluff flyers. Yes, the men are ***very*** happy with the monthly visits. I know my man is. :D
.
My aesthetician is a gem. While other girls have come and gone, she is the only permanent face at the store other than the lady boss, Sonia.
.
Earlier this week, another galfriend requested me to accompany her on her maiden visit to the concept store. Happily, I agreed considering that it was high time for my own visit. We walked out of the store with huge grins on our faces. :)
.
L***h, hope you’re enjoying your newfound ‘freedom’. Believe me, it is darn addictive! Remember to give them a call to book your next appointment prior to your Bali trip, ya? ;) To the men in Bali, LOOK OUT! Hot, waxed chick on her way over! :D
.
To the other ladies (D**n, WP, D*b, D**y, B***a, T**e and you and YOU!) who are avid BW supporters … Ain’t Life beautiful??? ;)))

Time Tested Beauty Tips

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone.

.
The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.
- Sam Levenson

.
As I savored my quart of BR Jamoca®, the 1954 classic Sabrina was showing on CineMax and had me totally mesmerized with Audrey Hepburn’s timeless and natural elegance. Even at age 59 when she made a cameo apperance in Steven Spielberg’s Always, she still looked gorgeous. Check her out here. Then again, one can expect nothing less from this beauty and fashion icon.
.
The above poem gained worldwide popularity when it was known that Audrey loved it and read it to her children.
.
Time tested indeed. I couldn’t agree more.

Good Bush, Bad Bush

*This post is 18-SX. Proceed only if you can handle VERY candid comments about the nether region*
.
After dinner last night, the topic of discussion amongst my friends went to the recent Edison Chen scandal. The guys were very candid about Cecilia Cheung’s lack of respect for the Art of Brazillian Waxing (BW).
.
"Eyyerrrr! Such a turn-off!"
"Does she not know that a full bush is so-not-sexy?!?!"
"Look at how overgrown her bush is! All the way to the back! Eyuck!"
"Reminds me of werewolf."

.
Of coz I agreed with them all. I am *very* thankful that my Sweetheart is not a very hairy man. And I absolutely love it that he enjoys the BW pampering I give him every month. In fact, he asks for it if I forget. :)
.
Now, the part where I shocked the guys last night.
.
"Hey guys, Edison Chen oso very hairy ler. How come you guys are only condemning the gal, and not the guy too, for not keeping his bush neat???"
.
Silence.
.
Then one brave guy volunteered - "Aiyah, guy never mind lah but girl must keep it trimmed mah."
.
Of coz I was not gonna let that one slide past.
So, I pushed it further - "How can guys get off the hook but not girls??? For your info, we girls like you guys to keep it trimmed and neat too."
.
All guys (except my Sweetheart) exchanged surprised looks, then proceeded to change the topic.
.
Avoid it all you want, guys…but trust me on this one :-
We don’t enjoy extra dental floss service too. Really.

Brrrrrrr

Ok, I am now getting really worried.
.
I have assumed that it would be cold but not that cold. I thought to myself "Surely it cannot be that cold considering that it’s not near the mountain and there ain’t any snow there".
.
I remember my favourite, comfy temperature to be around 60 degrees Fahrenheit which was the level at Northern California around X’mas-New Year. Then, I was harshly reminded that Austin is nothing like LA.
.
So, I think I better start prepping myself - mentally and physically - for the cold. Guess I can’t pack for Austin the way I packed for LA. :\
.
I actually lepak-ed at the Santa Monica beach just days after the New Year Countdown in Santa Cruz. I even got myself a nice tan that year. My friends wouldn’t believe me when I told them I got a nice tan in Cali for X’mas-New Year.
.
So, to you non-believers out there : Here’s the proof! :P
.
Baywatch_tower_2
.
I swear I waited a reeeeally long time for the Baywatch babes to come running down the beach in their red swimsuits but nope…no sexy, bouncy babes running down the beach. Just an empty tower with the lifeguard’s red board hanging from the roof. :(
.
This year, looks like I will be sporting a different fashion. Oh! That reminded me of something. I got myself a new winter jacket! Damn nice leh…comfy and fashionable gila-gila! Burnt a deep-deep hole in my pocket but damn, it is oh-so-fine! Will model it whenever and wherever I get to camwhore in the next few weeks. ;)
.
Now, gotta go google up the temp and hopefully, it’s not rainy season. Would hate getting my new fabulous jacket wet. It’s not waterproof like those ugly (but practical), puffy ones.
.
Pretty things are usually impractical. *sigh*

Did you know…

Of the many usages of garlic?

  1. Cooking
  2. Keeping the vampires away
  3. Making our breath stoink (quoting the Hitz.fm deejays)
  4. Instant removal of hickeys

Waitaminit….
How does the last one work?
.
Remarkably, it seems.
.
A close friend came up to me last week and shared this piece of interesting information. The kinda information that is totally useless if you’re not in a specific predicament and wonderfully useful if you’re in it.
.
Method :

  • Remove the skin from the garlic
  • Cut it into 2 halves
  • Take the first half and rub the cut end to the affected area for 15 mins - non stop!
  • Once the raw garlic is not as sticky anymore, discard and use the second half to continue rubbing on the affected area.
  • Repeat daily for 15-mins each session

*Note*
For a ‘not-so-deep’ mark, one needs to repeat the above for 1-2 days. ‘Deeper’ marks will require some more work. Perhaps 3-5 days of daily 15-min session to totally remove the mark.
.
Doubt if I will ever find this information useful but hey, more information is always good! :D
.
NOW I knowwwwwww.

Torture

It was torture, pure torture.
.
As I sat there since 9am this morning, she has been messing with my mind. I tried my damnest to concentrate on the guy standing in front of the room…but my mind and my eyes kept getting lured back to her, sitting at the front of the room. The milky white skin, the slender form…she was sexily and tantalizingly driving me WILD!
.
Breathe in, breathe out. Concentrate, Eleen, concentrate. The presenter is sharing some really useful information that you could discuss with your team in your next team meeting. Forget the breathtaking beauty in front of you now. You have GOT to stay focused! This is NOT a good time to get distracted.
.
At certain points of the day, I thought I was succeeding. Then, all she needed to do was turn her body ever so slightly…teasingly showing me her side form. OH.MY.GOD. I was friggin’ close to getting an orgasm!
.
Finally, I decided enough was enough. Fuck the niceties! I am so gonna put an end to this misery before the end of today! Which was precisely what I did. Found out some useful information on where I can find her after work, then go grab her and make her mine!
.
Before the sun set today, she was mine.

Jealous? Don’t be.
You can make her yours too for a little under RM 60 from ‘Opera’ at Prangin Mall 2nd floor. :) She comes in silver and gold too. Sexxxyyyyyyy!!!!

The Inspiration

Radiant. Sensual. Captivating.
.
I’ve always liked Catherine Zeta-Jones with her deep, sexy voice. Now, I like her even more because she is endorsing my current favourite Elizabeth Arden fragrant : Mediterranean
.
Catherine’s paid line for it is : "Where the sun coaxes you to be a little less shy"
Me likey, me likey! :))) The oval design for the bottle is really simple, but elegant. Nice shade of blue too. They call it cerulean blue. I just call it blue. Nice.
.
Now, the question is : When do I get it?
Get it now and pay more for it or wait till Glow (our favourite perfume supplier) stocks it up. Their price list is a cool 20% off the regular price at the Liz Arden booth anywhere.
.
That’s enough savings to encourage me to wait, I’d say. For now, it’d be my faithful Femme from Boss.

Shopaholic

Most female shoppers can generally be categorized into 2 main groups.

Group A : The true-blue shopper

  • Their lives are dramatically changed by any announcements of mega-sales, warehouse-sales, shutting-down-sales, i-think-i-ran-over-a-cat sale, or I’m-pissed-at-my-mother-in-law sale.
  • They are the ones who get hyper excited when they hear of friends making shopping plans, even though they are not part of the plans.
  • They can spend an entire day at the mall and come back with not a single purchase and yet are fully satisfied on a well-spent day. Sometimes, they may end up buying some stuff but those are far and in-between. (note that not all of these true-blue shoppers are rolling in dough)
  • They will diligently cut out discount coupons, sign up membership at a dozen stores, register their email addresses at every other store, and be the first few ones to squeeze into the invitation list of any opening/kick-off events.

Group B : The only-when-I-have-to shopper

  • These folks plan their shopping trips. When to go what to get and how to cover the most area in the shortest time possible.
  • They zip in and out of the stores satisfied with their planned purchases for the day.
  • They get super annoyed if they walk out of the stores empty-handed. Maybe it’s becos that means their plans just got flushed down the toilet and they will have to reschedule everything else.
  • They can never, ever understand all the hype and trouble folks go through just to get that 30% or even 70% off. They would rather pay full price on another regular non-sale day just to save the time spent elbowing through a mad crowd and waiting in a never-ending line just to pay for the purchases. Their reasoning…their time IS money.

Of coz there are other smaller categories like window shoppers and impulse shoppers but like I mentioned earlier, most women can generally fall into the above 2 categories. So, which group do you belong to? ;)

BW - Part IV

D, thanks for your message earlier. I am happy to be able to share this new-found information with my friends and I am sure T will be *very* excited with your surprise for him! ;) Perhaps if you could find out from him if he is able to get any BW services for guys in Singapore? I will then suggest to Sonia, the co-owner of FLUFF. She is, after all, a Singaporean.

I decided to cheer sweetheart up from his bad day by offering to give him a BW pampering session. That did the trick. He was like a little kid…excited for the attention and pampering. It was, after all, close to 2 months since I last gave him his BW fix. I remember it was just before our Phuket trip. As usual, he didn’t flinch an inch while I waxed him. I must say I did a pretty good job this time round. I think I was in a bad mood the last time I gave him his BW fix. Did a crappy job and he ended up having to clean up after me. Felt bad about that but I made sure I more than made up for it this time round.

And so Sunday ended on a happy note : for sweetheart and for me. Must now prepare myself for yet another full week ahead.

Happy last week of May to all of you! June is just around the corner!

BW - Part III

The surest way for me to decide whether a waxing studio is worthy of earning my money would be for me to call them for a short interview.

Me : Hi! Is this XYZ waxing studio?
XYZ : Yes, you have called the right place. We specialise in catering to all your waxing needs.
Me : Really? Hmmm…ok then. Tell me, do you do Brazilian waxing?
XZY : Huh? Brazilian? What’s that? Which part of the body do you need to wax?
Me : OK, never mind. Thank you. <hangs up>

So, I thought my personal experiences with all the waxing studios in Penang (except for FLUFF) were bad…until R told me about hers.

R : Hi. Do you provide waxing services?
ABC : Yes, we do. We have a steady stream of foreign customers like yourself. Welcome welcome!
R : Ahhh…that is great to hear. So, I want to get a Brazilian wax. How much would that cost me?
ABC : Oh, I am sorry to inform you that our wax is fully imported from China, not Brazil.
R : Huh???? Never mind then. Thank you. <turns around to walk out of shop and never to return>

I swear the above scenarios are real-life experiences. Sad, but true.

Fortunately, we are no longer deprived. Thanks to FLUFF.

Brazilian Waxing (BW) - Part II

There is hope for Penang after all!

Discovered this place in Island Plaza that specializes in spray tanning and waxing. For those who know me, you will know that I have no need for any tanning services. It would be the waxing service that got me all excited.

Took 2 galfriends with me, T & R. Both were very excited when I told them about my plan to check out this new BW place called FLUFF. Their boyfriends were even MORE excited. One even requested for some photos. Haha! Men will be men….

I was in for a pleasant surprise though. All my previous BW experiences in KL and  Singapore had been with either hot or cold wax. Yesterday was my virgin experience with hard wax. Let me list down my experiences with these 3 different types of wax.

Hot Wax (sometimes referred to as Creamy Wax) : This used to be my favourite up till yesterday when I discovered Hard Wax. The wax is heated in a special machine (it reminded me of a mini slow cooker) and then applied with a flat stick. A long strip is then pressed on top of the waxed area. A swift pull of the strip takes out the hair on the waxed surface.

Pain level : Low to mid

Cold Wax : This is my least favourite type. It gave me the most painful waxing experience! The minute the wax is applied, it hardens up and pulls at the hair. Even before the strip is pressed over the waxed area, the discomfort is already making me wish I hadn’t bothered trying out this method!

Pain level : Mid to high

Hard Wax : This is similar to the hot wax except that it works differently. The hot wax is applied to a small area and it cools down very quickly. What fascinates me is when the wax cools down, it turns rubbery. The hair will then get embedded unto the rubbery wax. Removing the rubbery wax will remove the hair at the same time. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a totally painless process. It seems this is less painful than the strip method because the rubbery wax will only remove the hair while the strip will pull with it the top skin of the waxed surface.

Pain level : Low to none

What I enjoyed most about this place is the 3 types of products used by the therapist.

  1. Pre Epilation Oil – this is applied prior to the application of the wax. It helps to keep the wax from sticking to the skin and it is the main reason the whole process is painless.
  2. Cooling Gel – this is applied after the entire waxing session. It helps to soothe the irate skin after the waxing.
  3. Slow Growth Lotion – this is applied at the very end. It helps to slow down the growth of hair and also, prevents in-grown hair.

Price tag :
Brazilian (xx) all off – RM 98

Brazilian (line or triangle) – RM 88

Me? I’m personally an all-off gal. Also, I love the way my sweetheart’s eyes light up in glee when I tell him I have scheduled my next BW all-off appointment. :)

Scents of a Woman

One thing I am thankful for : that I am blessed with low maintenance skin. Maybe God knows that someone as lazy as me need as many low maintenance stuff as possible in my life. Balancing work and having fun is already keeping me mighty busy!

So, here’s a list of my favourite essential oils when I go for my monthly aromatherapy pampering sessions.

Peppermint : To help rid of the headache from the weekend’s drinking and clubbing.
Rose : To help me relax and destress.
Chamomile : To help ease the tiredness around my eyes from staring at the laptop for hours.
Geranium : To help with the blood circulation on my face so as to keep the acnes away.
Lavender : To help ease the tension in my muscles from pushing myself too hard at the gym.
Eucalyptus : To clear my sinus.
Ylang Ylang : To help stimulate and enhance my sensuality. It’s also considered an aphrodisiac. Need I mention that this is my personal favourite? ;)

Hmmmmm….the scents…they always make me feel good. Really good.

P/S - Did every girl on this island go nuts during last weekend’s BODY SHOP crazy sale??? I know I did! And lotsa gal friends emailed me to share their stories of madness too. How they got this and that for 70% + 10% off. First time I saw tonnes of guys waiting outside BODY SHOP while their other halves fight through the madness. Gals will always be gals…can’t say NO to sales! :)
