Ok, I am officially pissed! Pissed that some marketing folks in some organisations run around with the mindset that the public are brainless nincompoops who make easy prey to their ridiculously-stupid ’supposed’ great deals.
.
Here’s the scenario :
We received a cash voucher from Dorsett Hotel, Penang (those of you Penangites who don’t know where it is, it’s actually the former Sheraton Hotel on Larut Road).
.
Ts & Cs of the voucher :
- Valid for room only, no F&B
- Valid for Deluxe room category and above only
- Redeemable against published/rack rates
- Not redeemable for cash or cash refunds on balance value
- Not valid with any other promos, packages or contracted rates
- Valid till 31st December 2008
.
Rather short…no no…SUPER short window time for us to redeem the voucher but hey, it’s free. So shut up and utilise it, I tot. Called up the hotel and after a short conversation with them, realised that we’ve been duped. Like you-guys-are-total-idiots kinda duped! Why do I say that? This is why.
.
Voucher value : RM 335
Published/rack rate for deluxe room : RM 552 nett
After voucher redemption, amount we have to pay for a deluxe room : RM 217 nettt (RM 552 - RM 335)
Walk-in promotional rate for a deluxe room : RM 240 nett!!!
.
So, why bother giving out these ‘free’ vouchers?!?!!
For a mere RM 23 extra, I might as well check in as a walk-in guest and pay RM 240 nett for a deluxe room! Why bother with the stupid cash voucher?!?! Totally no value watsoever!
.
Y’see, I don’t mind forking out an additional RM50 or maybe even RM100 and redeem the cash voucher for the room. But to pay another RM 217 (which is only RM 23 short of paying the full promotional price of a walk-in guest!) just to stay one night at that hotel???? Hah!
.
Total BS!!!!
.
My toilet paper has better value than this so-called cash voucher.
.
P/S - To the mgmt of MoMo, please do not take this as me being ungrateful for the ‘free’ voucher. Am just pissed that Dorsett Hotel has taken us all for a ride with their crap. Bleh!
