The Malay language has a word for it - ‘manja’ - but the English language does seem to have the right word for it.

Affectionate, loving, ardent, devoted, doting - they closely describe it but none of them have the OOOOMPH that reflects the true meaning of the word. Even my walking English dictionary was at a loss for words when I asked him about it.

I think that human beings in general are ‘Or-Lor‘ (OL). Some OL to their pets, some to their parents, some to their spouses/partners and some just have in-built OL genes that they OL everytime over everything.

Now guys, before you wave your hand and go “That’s what women do. Not us!” … I’d like to remind you of the last time you were sick in bed and kicked up a fuss with your mom/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend about the soup being too hot, or the blanket being too small, or the book being out of your reach. Still think that it’s only the women who OL? :p

Why do the ladies do it?
Because some think it’s cute. Some smart ones do it to get the guys to do/buy stuff for them. Some just do it to get attention.

Why do the guys do it?
Because it’s their dirtiest trick to obtain sympathy and attention from the opposite sex. Yes, it’s sad but true. Some ladies actually fall for it. *shake head*

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying it’s not desirable to OL. IMHO, OL-ness between partners is a given. EVERYONE does it. The question is : To what degree?
.
Now, this is very subjective. Some folks lurrrrve to OL and to be OL-ed. I believe that generally, all women love it when their men OL with them. It’s like this private exchange between 2 persons.

I’m not sure if it’s just me but I personally can only take it in small dosages. I am *super* lucky that my man does it only once in a blue moon and when he does it, my heart just melts. Too much OL-ness and it turns me off. I mean, I don’t want to feel that I am babysitting a guy instead of dating him! A little bit of babytalk is cute. Too much of it is off-putting!

So guys, if you are not dating me…please please PLEASE do not OL with me. It’s off-putting and so not cool, okay! And girls, no amount of OL-ness is gonna get me to do what you want me to do for you. I wear a skirt too, remember?
