IKEA Gems

As much as I love this little paradise island, I have to admit that we are sadly deprived of many things. There are many treasures I’ve been searching high and low for but always get sorely disappointed. They are either not available anywhere on the island or priced waayyy out of my league.

.
Fortunately for me, I am the luckiest person in the whole world to be blessed with wonderful friends. Friends who will not hesitate to jump up and go “Eleen, you need stuff from KL? Just drop us some emails and we will do the shopping for you. Then have them delivered to you up North. There’s always folks commuting between KL & Penang every weekend.”
.
See? I am truly blessed, eh? ;)
.
So, over the weekend, I got some IKEA shopping done. Something I’ve been wanting to do for a long, long time but had just been too blardy busy to travel 350+ km to do it.
.
Firstly, there’s my beloved ramekins. I loved them so much when I unwrapped them this morning that I decided to get another set! I mean, there ain’t gonna be enough to share amongst my friends when I throw my parties, right?

At RM40 for a set of 4, I think it’s a steal! Besides, they just give me more reason to make some soufflé. ;) To get an idea how that yummy dessert looks like, go here. There are really many interesting soufflé recipes out there, just like this one.
.
Hmmm…may be a good idea to throw a dessert-n-wine party next month. Why next month? Cos the weekends are fully booked for the rest of this month!
.
Ok, on to other stuff from my IKEA goodie bag.

Bottom in white box : Martini glasses
On top of box : Wire Whisk
Rings in black box : Wine charms
(Nice surprise from my galfren coz it was not in the original shopping list. I already have a few sets which I picked up from the States during my trips there but hey, one can never have too many of them. They are such charmers! :D)
.
Price for all of the above items : RM 88.80
Nice round number, eh? May be good omen for more good things to come my way! :)))
.
Perhaps some margarita glasses? IKEA does not stock them, it seems. :(

The wine charmers are used to differentiate your own wine glass from the other guests’ glasses. In parties where we sometimes place our wine glasses down to chit-chat with other guests or to reach for something else, it’s easy for folks to mix-up their wine glasses. The wine charmers have different designs, colors and shapes. They are tagged around the stem of the wine glasses. So, you just need to identify your own charmer and you know no one else will drink from your wine glass. :D
The soufflé shouldn’t be that hard but I will update this space when I try it. I watched it being made on AFC (Asian Food Channel) and it seemed fairly do-able. Wish me luck! :)

Remember, the remekins are sold in METROJAYA, not Parkson. Parkson is where their jakun staff asked me to go to Cold Storage to buy my “cream” because they have never heard of “crème brûlée”.

Don’t be a big head prawn and go the wrong place again ya :p

Ya ya ya! :P I remember you telling me that you went to check at Parkson but I forgot the ‘cream’ part of your story. Will try out Metrojaya this weekend lah. If still cannot find it, will order them via my KL galfrenz again :D

    Hi Janice,
I did get my ramekins but not from IKEA. Got them from Metrojaya instead. It’s been awhile though. Not sure if you can still get them from Metrojaya.

    Happy shopping! :)
