Update # 1 : Ipoh Pit Stop

As promised, here is the first part of our weekend road trip update.
.
Our first pit stop was at the most famous dim sum restaurant in the peninsular - Foh San. Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long for a table. Food selection was super wide and they have types of dim sum that I have never seen in my entire life.
.
Here are some pictures of their not-so-common dim sum dishes.

Top left : Beehive Bun (bun stuffed with steamed glutinous rice)
Top right : Huge-ass Curry Chicken Bun (it’s the size of 2 fists!)
Bottom left : Lotus Paste with Egg Yolk Bun (just like the mooncake)
Bottom right : Red Bean Custard (this is reeeaallly good!)
.
Their trademark dish is actually the Egg Tart which we packed together with some BBQ Pork Buns and took with us as we proceeded on our journey.
.
Just as we headed back to our parked cars, we were rudely surprised with this on our windscreens.
.
Bakua
.
A bakua!
"For what?!?!" - we protested in disbelief.
.
Then, we saw this.

.
Only when we stood right underneath the roadsign could we see the "PERHENTIAN KERETA SEWA LUAR BANDAR" sign. Blardy sneaky Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) folks laid this trap for all unsuspecting out-of-towners like us! My Uni-mate who is currently residing in Ipoh told me later that the MBI folks swarm to that area like vultures waiting for folks to walk into the famous dim sum restaurant before they whip out their bakua books! #$%*#^*&^$%!!!
.
So folks, if you are making plans to enjoy a good dim sum meal at the famous Foh San, make sure you watch out where you park your cars. And even if you are parked at the designated spots, make sure you purchase the little tickets from the small boxes to put on your dashboard. Otherwise, you will still get a bakua for not paying for parking.
.
We refused to allow that stupid little incident to spoil our trip. After all, the weekend was only just beginning.
.
Here’re some pix of half of the happy pack as we headed to the highland.

They just leave that big hole on the beehive bun like that? I prefer the ones from Relau. They stuff the hole with duck egg yolk.

I gotta get the directions from my mom first because I’m not too sure where it is. But I’m pretty sure it was somewhere after we pass the Chinese cemetery.
