It’s actually something I’ve been shopping around for awhile but didn’t find any that I like or within my allocated budget.
.
I was grocery shopping at Tesco when I chanced upon it last weekend. Within seconds of viewing the product, I was already sold. The salesman went on and on with his sales pitch and wouldn’t stop even when I asked him how much the damage would be. Since I was in a hurry to rush home to cook for D’s surprise birthday party, I had to be a little abrupt and told him "Uncle, please tell me how much can ah? I want to buy already. So, can you stop your sales pitch please?". That did the trick.
.
And man, was I like an excited kid with a new toy!
You will understand why after I explain the tricks it has up its sleeves.
.
.
And it looks mighty fine too, doesn’t it?
.
So, here is what it is capable of :
- Mixing
- Juicing
- Blending
- Grinding
- Grating
- Chopping
Cool, eh?
.
Exciting things I can play around with :
- Chop fresh herbs (no more bottled dried herbs, yayyyy!)
- Grind spices
- Grate cheese
- Make smoothies
- Grind soy beans (homemade soymilk!)
- Grind coffee beans (altho I don’t drink coffee, it’s still a nice-to-have feature, eh?)
*smug grin*
- Prepare Sweetheart’s fav fresh apple-n-orange juice
- Make my very own frozen daiquiri
*Can you guess this is my fav feature on my new toy? ;)*
All the above and much, much more for a mere RM 199.
.
Worth it? Totally!
It’s a first. Definitely.
.
Ermmm, I ran out of liquid. Well, not all of the liquids. Just my current fav one. Which is this. And it’s not a good thing.
.
It’s also the first time that a bottle did not pass the 1-month mark ‘coz everybody simply loves it. The last drop was licked off last weekend. Problem is, its replenishment is only coming in end-August. I had thought that it would last at least until the replenishment gets here.
.
Me unhappy camper now.
.
*Geez, I just realised I sound like an alcoholic. Am not lah. Just that I don’t like to be left high ‘n’ dry. Hic*

For pictures, go here.
It has been 3 years since our first hello.
.
Born and bred in different parts of the globe, never in our wildest dreams did we think that our paths will cross one day. We led different lifestyles, built different dreams, moved in different social circles and drove down different career paths.
.
All it took was a casual conversation between some guys who found themselves thousands of miles away from home that brought him into my world. I will be forever grateful to RH for bringing him to my dinner party that night. A strong, lifelong friendship was forged that night.
.
For the past 3 years, we maintained on-and-off contact as we rode the waves of our separate lives.
.
You know how strong a bond you feel with certain folks no matter how far apart you are physically? Or how different your lives are led? Or however short time you knew that person? That’s how my bond with him is.
.
We can sit together in comfortable silence in the dark. Or just drive around aimlessly talking crap the whole night. Or just share a private joke over the dinner table. Or a wink across the dance floor (especially when I spotted a hot chick and dared him to pick her up!). Or some real serious H2H talk about matters that are closest to our hearts.
.
This is him carving our X’mas turkey last year.
.
.
And this is him goofing around with Sweetheart at my man’s birthday party earlier this year.
.
.
He is also the guy who took me on my virgin visit to a gentleman’s club.
.
This guy celebrated his birthday last Sunday. We threw him a surprise party. Dinner was a fusion of Italian and Indian food. Birthday cake was dark belgian chocolate (can you guess who was in charge of getting the cake?).
.
Here’s a picture of our dinner.
.
.
Baby asparagus and baby potatoes were from our CH trip, the only vege I bought from the highland. Dessert was the birthday cake.
.
The night was perfect … the fusion food, the b’day cake, the super late night Mahjong session … except for one thing …
.
The birthday boy was MIA. :`(
.
I’m sorry, D…that you are going through this rough patch at this point in your life. And I’m sorry that those you love couldn’t be with you on your special day. We tried, we really tried…but we found out too late that you didn’t want company.
.
I will not lie and tell you I understand what you are going through now coz I don’t. I can offer you what you are willing to take from me. What I am capable of giving to you. That hug you gave me on Saturday night was a silent one that spoke a thousand words to me. Although no words were exchanged between us, I felt your sorrow and your pain as we held each other tight. I had to choke back tears then. I have to choke back tears now as I write this.
.
Know that I love you very much and I am here for you whenever you need me, k?
I learnt a couple of important lessons from my recent highland trip.
- Cameron Highlands (CH) is getting too commercialised and polluted by the day. It will not be long before it’s not worth making a trip there any more.
- We visited the famous Kea Farm. I was not impressed at all. The vege sold there are not good quality ones and price-wise, not that inexpensive either. I was shopping at Tesco back in Penang the following weekend and found the same vege for almost the same price - plus minus a few cents.
- The strawberries sold there are also sub-standard and the strawberry vendors are the loudest. All total scams, methinks. One vendor was shouting "Strawberry Sale! 2 packs for RM10 only! For the next 5 mins only!" and another one shouting "Rain coming! Remaining strawberries will go for super cheap price! Special rain discount!".
.
Of cos that 5 mins went on for hours (at least until the vendor sells out all his strawberries) and the the discount has nothing to do with the rain.
.
*There is a Chinese saying that we get what we paid for. I am a firm believer of that*
.
- Due to its popularity amongst tourists, steamboat meals are rather pricey at the restaurants. We did find a decent place for RM16 per adult for a set steamboat meal. Did it blow our minds away? Nope. Was it edible? Yes. Would I go back? Hmmm…am not sure if I will go back to CH for that matter.
- There is a Starbucks in Tanah Rata town.
- Only ONE thing is worth giving the thumbs-up for. The Strawberry White Coffee from Strawberry Moment. Priced at RM15 for a pack of 10 sachets, it is simply the yummiest coffee I have ever tasted in my entire life! And mind you, I am not a coffee drinker/lover. Yet, I found this reeealllly good. Ended up buying a pack back for WP who cannot live without her daily coffee dosage.
.
.
In a nutshell, you are not missing much if you do not have it on your Cuti-Cuti Malaysia roadmap.
.
So, what does it boil down to?
.
I guess all that matters is the company we are with, eh? It’s true. That’s all that truly matters. :)))
Mention Salted Chicken and Taugeh (beansprout) Chicken and folks will go "Ipoh!"
.
Took us 2 solid hours of non-stop driving from the highland before our pit spot at Ipoh. Yes, we stopped over at Ipoh again and this time, it was not for dim sum. It was for the famous chicken food.
.
Due to its popularity with tourists, a handful of entrepreneurial Ipohans have their fingers in the big pie. Folks can get understandably confused on which place to pick for the chicken food.
.
So hopefully, this post will help point you to the right place (if you do not already know or have your own personal fav) when you make your own Ipoh pit stop for their famous chicken food.
.
Firstly, the Salted Chicken. Most of the shops are in downtown Ipoh but make sure you look for the right one. The one that is reeeaallly good is ‘Tat Seng Salted Chicken’ which is located at Unit 2, Jalan Mustaffa Al-Bakri. If you get lost looking for it, call them @ 05-2414268 for directions.
.
Here’re 2 Penang models posing in front of the shop.
.

.
They were hoping to get a free salted chicken for the free advertising but it seems their ‘good looks’ were not good enough for the shop. So, they still had to fork out RM16 for one salted bird. Oh well, never try never know!
.
Next is the super famous Taugeh Chicken. The Cantonese call it Nga Choi Kai - 芽菜雞. Also located downtown, one will see 3 shops at the junction of Yau Tet Shin Street and Osbourne Street. The one that is most popular with tourists is Lou Wong but the real deal is actually the one next door (Onn Kee)
.
.
The shop at the top of the above picture is Lou Wong. The other 2 are actually owned by 2 brothers but make sure you go to the one that has the word ‘IBU PEJABAT’ on the signboard. Why? Becos local Ipohans swear by this place!
.
All my visits to ‘IBU PEJABAT’ Onn Kee have been totally satisfying. Never once did I not walk out of that place thinking "I think I overstuffed myself, again!" *sheepish grin*
.
Here are the must-order dishes at the shop.
.
.
From right to left :
- Fishball & Porkball soup
- Chicken spare parts (gizzard, liver & intestines)
- Steamed chicken meat
- Hor Fun (noodles) soup
- Curry chicken with mint leaves
- Super oily & crispy BBQ pork (dish in the middle)
.
Next, dessert time. I recently learnt that Ipoh’s most famous dessert is soybean curd or ‘taufufah’ (豆腐花). The 2 most well-known places for this dessert is Lai Kee and Kei Foong or better known by its English name Funny Mountain. They are both within walking distance from each other, just a stone’s throw from the famous Foh San dim sum restaurant.
.
.
We picked Lai Kee. Now I have to be honest and call a spade a spade. It was only so-so. Nothing to shout about, really. We soon found out later that Happy Mountain is the more famous place for ‘taufufah’. Darn! We picked the wrong one.
.
Oh well, there will always be another Ipoh trip.
After the vege and fruit shopping @ the Brinchang Nite Market, there really wasn’t much to do by 11pm.
.
Thankfully, someone (yes, you smart one!) had the foresight to come prepared. So, we ended up charging rent, buying land, houses and hotels for a good while before we decided to move on from one M to another.
.
So, from this …
.
… we moved on to this.
.
.
We started with only us 2 of us knowing the game but by the end of the night, all the novices turned Pro. And I hate to say this but … "It’s darn addictive, right???"
.
Hmm … I forsee many future nights of Mahjong sessions at my place. Not that I am complaining lah. Although I can’t say the same for my neighbours when they hear those shouts of "Phong!" & "Kong!". :)))
Cameron Highlands = Strawberries = Scones
.
Strawberries? All over the dang place.
Scones? Ye Olde Smokehouse (YOS).
.
It’s almost like a tradition to all Cameron Highlands visitors. Must have the above 2 before heading home.
.
Write-up on YOS :
"…this delightful resort evokes all the charm of English country home architecture…whisk you away to a leisurely and tranquil time…"
.
All that English charm must’ve gone to the heads of the locals who work there coz they are sooo full of crap! Talk all slangy, uppity facial expressions, snooty attitude. Total BS lah!
.
Maybe it’s coz more than 50% of their customers are Ang Mohs, maybe it’s coz of their centuries old reputation. Whatever it is, it sure made them super LC. Which, again, is total BS.
.
Maybe becos we were non-ang mohs. Maybe abit noisy (but SO WHAT?!), abit excited coz it was the virgin visit for 2 in the gang, and also abit loony coz it was our weekend away from all things serious. Didn’t order an entire buffet from the menu. Just the scone set to be shared and some hot soup. At the end of the day, we were STILL paying customers.
.
***THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT***
.
We eat, drink and sh!t that maxim on weekdays. So, we expect the same thing over the weekend. Fair, no?
.
So, in exchange for the snooty service rendered to us, we decided to annoy them further by hanging around longer and camwhoring at their premises. So sue us.
.
.
Once we felt we were done outdoors, we moved the camwhoring activities indoors.
.
.
The whole time we were standing here and there posing for the pix, the staff was standing at the corner glaring at us. Like we care! So, MORE camwhoring!!!
.

.
After we camwhored kau-kau, then only we paid for our bill and left that craphole. I don’t know abt the others but I am for sure NOT going back there should I find myself up in the highland again. I found out later there are other places which serve scones too.
.
So, to the staff of YOS, ptttoooooiiiiii to ya!
.
*jeling and flip hair*
Today, I decided to cheer my man up (from work stress) with some of his favourite comfort food : Corned beef Sandwiches.
.
His mom tried one and said "This is good. Eleen has mastered the art of preparing corned beef the way I do it for our family."
.
*Kembang*
.
I think it’s the BEST compliment I have ever received to-date on my cooking attempts. :)))
.
We’ve searched high and low. Near and far. Yet, have never found anyone else who prepares corned beef the way his mom prepares it.
.
WP blogged abt it a while ago. Read her post here. Girl, I am proud to share with you the *BEST* way to enjoy this scrumptious dish.
.
4 simple ingredients :
- Can of corned beef
- Diced onions (you may leave out this ‘alien’ if you so desire)
- Cut Bird’s Eye Pepper (Cili Padi)
- Dash of Sugar (best trick his mom taught me abt this dish!)
Cooking method :
Heat up a flat pan and throw in the corned beef. Once the oil from the beef oozes out, throw in the diced onions. Stir till fragrant. Add in the cut cili padi and stir occasionally to avoid sticking to pan. Keep the fire low and simmer till the cili padi softens. Lastly, throw in the dash of sugar to neutralise the saltiness. Leave to cool before wrapping in-between bread slices.
.
The end-product should look something like this.
.
.
Found another recipe for corned beef sandwiches here.
Will try it but methinks my man will be biased and stay loyal to his mom’s recipe.
.
Who wouldn’t be, eh?
It’s end of Q. He is as stressed out as a man can ever be.
I wondered. I pondered. I then decided.
.
A bowl of Katsudon!
That’ll do the trick. That never fail to put a smile on his face.
.
Suddenly, the frowning disappeared. The grumbling stopped. The dark mood lifted.
.
He is happy again. For now.
.
Hang in there, baby. Be the trooper I know you are. There’s light at the end of the tunnel if you look towards the ‘right’ end. And there is always yummy oxtail soup. Most importantly, there is ME.
As I nursed my aching head,
I heard a knock at my door.
There stood my man,
Looking handsome and tall.
Holding dinner in one hand and hot soup in another,
He smiled and said…
"Dinner’s here, baby. And your fav oxtail soup too!"
.
Yes, I am indeed a very, very lucky woman.
After travelling a total of 580 km in the past 48 hrs, I am finally back @ home sweet home. What a tiring weekend! And what a GRRREEAAAT one at that!!!
.
Rewind a couple of days : A bunch of very good buddies talked about going on a road trip together. Due to work and stuff, there wasn’t much chance to plan for it. At the eleventh hour, they decided to forget work, forget responsibilities, forget miseries … basically forget everything and just hop into the car and head out for some good, fun times.
.
With Penang behind them and the NSE in front of them, they headed south.
.
From small towns to big towns, uphill and downhill, good food and average food, Wow service to shoved-up-the-ass service, Monopoly to Mahjong. That’s just to name a few of the FUN they had in the past 2 days.
.
A total of 200+ pictures were snapped. Good ones, crappy ones, Kodak-moment ones, never-to-see-the-light-of-day ones. Will take days to edit them! *sweat*
.
Stories and pictures will be shared in parts. Waaaayyy too much to share in one post. Stay tuned, ya.
.
Now, where is my much-needed glass of Longo?
No, it’s not for "Friends wif Benefits" (or the more crude term "F**k Buddy"). It’s actually for "FaceBook", the increasingly popular social network that is taking the world by storm.
.
Everyday, more and more folks I know are turning into active FB users. Even my own Sweetheart who used to scorn at FB is actively playing Warbook and Texas Holdem thru his FB account. Heh…
.
It is also a great tool for folks to keep in touch with each other. Update friends on what’s hot and what’s not in our lives. It’s amazing how much communication has transpired between me and some high school friends - folks I have not seen nor spoken to for more than a decade!
.
Folks upload pictures and videos, write on walls, offer drinks, buy toys and send plants to each other thru FB. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Every single day, new applications are being drawn up and shared with the 80+ million users around the globe. It’s just mind-boggling!
.
Of late, it has also became the most active social network amongst Dellians. It’s public knowledge that our very own CEO has an active FB account. In fact, alot of corporate updates are shared thru FB, encouraged by the big guy himself.
.
I am preparing myself for the day my boss pings me via FB all the way from Austin and starts sending me virtual drinks thru it.
I stopped counting after I used up all the fingers on both my hands.
.
That’s for the number of folks who’ve thanked me for opening the door to the BW world to them. Some of them are boyfriends of the gals who are now frequent Fluff flyers. Yes, the men are ***very*** happy with the monthly visits. I know my man is.
.
My aesthetician is a gem. While other girls have come and gone, she is the only permanent face at the store other than the lady boss, Sonia.
.
Earlier this week, another galfriend requested me to accompany her on her maiden visit to the concept store. Happily, I agreed considering that it was high time for my own visit. We walked out of the store with huge grins on our faces.
.
L***h, hope you’re enjoying your newfound ‘freedom’. Believe me, it is darn addictive! Remember to give them a call to book your next appointment prior to your Bali trip, ya?
To the men in Bali, LOOK OUT! Hot, waxed chick on her way over!
.
To the other ladies (D**n, WP, D*b, D**y, B***a, T**e and you and YOU!) who are avid BW supporters … Ain’t Life beautiful??? ;)))
That’s what her family call her.
.
But for the dog years that I’ve known her, I’ve never called her by that name. She’s always been "B" to me. And to all the girls she bullied in school. Yes, she was our infamous school bully. Some grew up fearing her, some loathed her, some were attracted to her like moths to fire, and me…I grew up loving and hating her at the same time.
.
I still remember vividly the day we got our Rubella shots when we turned 12. As we sat in the library nursing our jabbed shoulders, B ran around slapping all the girls’ shoulders. While most cringed in fear and shock, I stared back at her - challenging her to slap my shoulder. She took one long look at me before running off to bully someone else. I think she realised then that we were on equal ground.
.
Fast forward a couple of years, we found ourselves spending alot of time together. She was actually a really smart student and was a favourite amongst our teachers. Unfortunately, she was lazy. Always looking for shortcuts to do things. They say the smartest of them all are always the laziest. I couldn’t agree more.
.
The year we turned 17, she moved out of her grandmother’s place and cramped into my room for a couple of months. My mom loved her dearly (and still do today). Yes, she has a skill that many worked hard to obtain - the ability to have women eating out of her palm.
.
Being the carefree person that she is, I was not surprised when she announced that she was leaving Penang to look for a job the day I received news that I had obtained a place for Pre-U.
.
Over the years, we met up here and there. Not often though. Perhaps once every few years. She led a life that was totally different from mine. Yet, our bond was never broken.
.
Last week, she texted me to tell me that she will be back in Penang for 3 days. Of coz I was elated. Met up with her for lunch today. It was amazing how easily we picked things up between us. She is still the same crazy person and hehe, still very much a bully. I felt sorry for the waitor she gave a hard time to.
.
I am not sure when I will see her again but one thing’s for sure, she has a permanent spot in my heart.
.
This is May aka B.
.
.
Till we meet again.
That in the past 8 years, I have witnessed the growth and many changes to our mothership.
.
That I used to be proud of our values, our culture and most importantly, our people … but today, I am saddened to write this.
- We are plagued by poorly-skilled and short-sighted leaders
- Our values have been taken too literally
(CE - Customer Experience - being the main excuse for folks to take the easy way out)
- Folks manipulating and misinterpreting "Teamwork"
- Obssessed with the race to be # 1
- The culture that formed our very essence is diminishing due to mass recruitment of moaners and whingers
I am truly saddened.
.
On the other hand, I am also truly blessed as I have been roped into a pocket of the population where alot of those values I hold dear are still integral to their existance. Of that, I am glad.
.
Everyday, I pray. That those I care about, those I know who still have the right values in their hearts - are given the opportunity to leave the maggot-infested part of the mothership and move over to where colourful rainbows splash across sunny skies. Where I am at.
.
Just don’t lose hope, folks.
Keep working at it and eventually, you will get here. I promise.
Today is the replacement holiday for Penang’s Big Daddy’s 70th birthday which was celebrated last Saturday. Most (not all) folks, especially the MNC troopers, get the day off.
.
The Dellians who had to work today gets TRIPLE pay. So, those of you buggers who had to work today, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO BITCH ABOUT IT! You happily saunter in the office today knowing your paycheck will be thicker end of this month.
.
Yes, I get annoyed when folks moan and groan about having to work on PH (Public Holiday). I always, always, ALWAYS get the same reaction when I play the ‘PH Game’ with them.
.
Moaner : Aiyer…so sien! Me gotta work on PH. U all relax at home, poor me gotta work in the office.
Me : Aiyoh, so kesian. No need to go in loh. Want me to talk to your boss? I can if you want me to. No manager can force his/her subordinate to work on a PH. There’s a HR rule against that.
Moaner : No no no no no!!! No need to talk to my boss! I will go in lah…never mind. If stay at home also nothing to do. Just bum around only lah.
Me : So, admit it! U WANT to go into the office today cos u KNOW that u will be paid TRIPLE pay for doing HALF or less of what u usually do due to the slow PH traffic.
Moaner : Hehehe….*sheepish grin*….u can say that oso lah…
.
*roll eyes*
.
When will these folks realise that they are just making fools out of themselves when they whinge about their own jobs and the company they work for?
.
No, I am not a die-hard Dell fan and I have my fair share of bones to pick as well but I absolutely do not yammer on and on about how sh!tty my job is.
.
Not happy? Move on! Whining about it does not make the sh!tt!ness go away. Trust me on this one.
.
P/S - Many surveys have proven that 80% of the time, folks leave their jobs becos of their managers. Not becos of their jobs or the company. So, it’s not fair to stereotype and badmouth an entire organisation becos of a few bad apples. Once you realise that, you will definitely be a happier employee. Anywhere.
.
*Disclaimer - Of coz this is only applicable to a pocketful of folks. Some really hate working on PH, triple pay or not, and will do all they can to stay out of the office. This post is not directed at them. It’s more directed at the moaners who love to moan for the sake of moaning. Shame on ya’ll.*

It rained cats & dogs mid-morning on Thursday. Many parts of the FTZ area were flooded.
.
As I drove to the office to pick up some peeps for lunch, I saw folks getting drenched trudging to their cars. Even though armed with brollies, they looked like wet rats. Heh…that says alot about our cafeteria food, eh?
.
Thanks to JE, the drive downtown was a short one.
.
We headed to our favourite Hokkien mee place in town. Remember this and this? The makeshift stall has been demolished to make way for road expansion and thankfully, the owner moved some 50m down the road to a proper building. So, we will get to enjoy our bowls of Hokkien mee for a long time to come. :)))
.
Today, all 8 of us ‘tham ciak kooi’s enjoyed a good hour of great food and even greater company.
.
.
Hokkien mee never tasted better!
Just as she was starting to lose herself to the welcoming comfort of some much-needed sleep, she felt a slight tingle. A tingle that went all the way to the tips of her toes.
.
"Hhhmmmmmm……" - she smiled as she kept her eyelids closed.
.
Without having to open her eyes, she could already feel his presence. She could already smell his familiar masculinity. And darn, he smells good. Her sense of smell was suddenly but deliciously interrupted by another sense, a sense that hautily taunts her every single cell.
.
Within minutes, she was feeling the crescendo building up inside her. She started squirming, and whimpering. Yet, the tingle didn’t stop. In fact, it actually grew stronger.
.
She lifted her eyelids a little, and from a small slit, saw him working his magic on her. She started to smile but a gasp got caught in her throat. "Gawd, he drives me crazy!" - the last thought that flew through her mind before giddiness took over.
.
And then….just before she allows her entire being to lose control, she decided that it’s time.
.
Reaching over, she whispered the magic words into his ear. He gave her the look that made her heart dangerously stop. Urgently, he breathed "U sure, baby?". "Yes!" was all she could manage before she finally let herself go.
.
"Arrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!"
.
Silence.
.
Then, "I love you, baby."
.
"Love you too, b" - she whispered before sleep finally claimed her.
"As of June 27 2008, no more gaming nor clubbing for me. But at least I get my last round of Happy Hour before I sign up for a lifetime commitment?"
- the brave words of a man just 2 hours prior to saying his vows at church.
.
.
Wishful thinking, doom-to-be (whoops! I meant groom-to-be).
Remember my popcorn-lover friend?
.
Well, he finally got tired of his not-so-healthy lifestyle (or so I hope!) and decided to join Sweetheart and I at the gym.
.
Today was his Day # 2. Understandably not that great performance so far considering that he is an avid death-stick supporter. For his sake, I hope that he will soon get to enjoy a healthier lifestyle but my Sweetheart seems to think otherwise.
.
"That guy ah? Cannot wan lah. I give him ONE WEEK. I seriously do not believe he will last more than a week. Almost zero self-disciplince and too darn hooked on that dirty habit of his! Dude, I challenge you to prove me wrong!"
.
*LOL*
.
We shall see. Hopefully, he rises to the challenge. It’s really wrong for a young guy to be gasping for breaths after just minutes at the gym.
.
You have my support, dude.
A month ago, my boss asked for our Penang office’s postal address. He told me - "I’m gonna make you a very happy girl by sending you an Austin hunk!"
.
I soon forgot about that little joke we shared.
.
Today, I received a call in the afternoon to collect a package from the front desk. Suddenly, I was reminded of that little exchange with my boss. Excitedly, I picked up my package and went back to my cube to open it.
.
I had to cut through 3 layers of boxes before I could get to the item.
.
.
As the boxes got smaller and smaller, I thought to myself - "Man, it must be a reeeally small Austin hunk!"
.
My cubemate got a little impatient watching me work through the boxes. "Aiyah! Faster lah, Eleen. Me kaypoh and wanna see what your boss sent you all the way from Austin!"
.
Finally, this is what I found inside the 3rd box.
.
.
It’s a crystal-like award which my boss has customised for my work on the recently launched program. Like WOW, huh??? It sure feels good knowing that all my hard work and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed. Yes, it definitely feels good to be appreciated.
.
Some folks in the global teams have been bitching about remote management but hey, I have no issues with my remote manager. Never have, and hopefully never will.
.
:)))
Sunday is my favourite day of the week.
.
Why? Becos…
.
- I get to sleep in with Sweetheart. Meaning more cuddle time.
- We get to spend quality time discovering more of our likes and dislikes.
- Late brunch at one of our many favourite makan places.
- More quality time over dinner and/or movies with beloved friends.
.
This Sunday, it is exceptionally special. Becos we got to spend extra time shopping for his Hush Puppies loafers and mainly becos this Sunday afternoon, I get to reaquaint myself with someone very special. Someone who holds a dear place in my heart.
.
This is that special someone.
.
.
Can’t believe she’s already 8 years old. And she’s so into HSM. Can’t believe they start so young!
.
She used to be a real spoilt brat when I first met her as a 3-year-old. Then she met me when she moved from Tokyo to Penang. She was taught hard lessons on the fact that spoilt brats do not have any place in the world I know. She soon blossomed into this sweetheart of a girl I know today. Yes, she is the half-Jap-half-Chinese daughter of a girl who used to be in my high school circle of best galfriends.
.
We spent a couple of hours this Sunday afternoon playing PS2 games. She reminded me again how much fun it is being a kid. Forget project timelines. Forget mitigation plans. Just worry about how to get to the next level of the game. I lost myself in her world this Sunday afternoon.
.
Summer holiday is coming up. She has promised to spend some more time with me when school’s out. Eagerly, I await.
This is the final update of our KT trip. Can’t believe it has taken me an entire week to complete the updating! You can imagine how last week was for us. Hectic - in a good way, of coz.
.
Anyway, the final celebration for our good buddies’ wedding was back up North in Kulim. This time round, we were mostly surrounded by the bride’s relatives.
.
It has been awhile since I was last in Kulim. A very dear galfriend of mine moved there with her parents when they retired years ago and it’s been ages since I saw them. I’ve always loved hanging out with her mom. A Kelantanese Chinese, her Hokkien has a sing-songy accent and I get a kick from conversing with her about Kelantanese cooking, her beloved doggies, and just Life in general.
.
We got a little lost on our way to the dinner venue but thanks to my galfriend’s mom who came out to meet us and guided us to that in-the-middle-of-nowhere place, we managed to get there before most of the other guests.
.
Lots of entertainment this time round. It was like a HUGE Bollywood party in small town Kulim. Almost every schoolmate, every neighbour, every relative was in the mood to partaayyyy! The DJ was kinda sucky though. Screwed up on the DJ buttons a couple of times.
.
Since it was a Sunday night, we didn’t stay too late and besides, we were all knackered from the non-stop partying since Thursday. By the time we headed back to our beloved Penang island, it was about midnight.
.
Here are some pictures of the Kulim fiesta.

.
All in all, it was a truly GREAT celebration. From Penang to KT to Kulim.
.
Congrats, Amirt & Geetha! Here’s to wishing a lifetime of adventure and happiness to the both of you.
.
Lots and lots of love from us all. *hugz*
Straight off the plane and into the WETTEST and HOTTEST party in Penang.
It was the last party before our fav club closed its doors for a total facelift.
.
This weekend, a new club will be unveiled. New look, new band, new FUN - can’t wait!
.
P/S - To my beloved boss and team in Austin, HAPPY INDEPENDANCE DAY!!!
