Across the Seas

Right till past 5pm, we still couldn’t decide if we wanna cook Sunday dinner. Finally, it was decided that we will do something different this week.
.
So, it was decided that we will join a group of friends and head out of Penang for dinner. It soon turned out to be an evening of mixed emotions for us.
.
We got reminded of how lackadaisical some folks can be. Of how unashamedly the term ‘Malaysian timing’ is constantly used. So folks, please please PLEASE stick to the schedule you committed to others. Otherwise, don’t commit. It makes you lose your credibility with others. :P
.
Thankfully, the good food made up for the less-than-impressive timing.
.
The drive from Penang to Serdang was slightly more than an hour. By the time we got to the restaurant, it was about 9.30pm. Thank God for the BR ice cream Sweetheart thoughtfully bought for me while waiting for those folks to show up.
.
Alot of folks are unaware that there are 2 Serdang’s in Malaysia. One in Kedah and one in Selangor. The one in Kedah is known for its ‘fried porridge’ dish while the one in Selangor is known for housing UPM.
.
Here is the signboard that greeted us as we stumbled out of the car to stretch our numb legs after the hour-long drive.

The wait for our food was fairly short, thank God.
Here’s dinner.

My favourite was the fish. Unfortunately, it was the last dish to arrive and by then, I was 90% full. Not much space left for the best ‘kiam sooi’ (salty-sourish) catfish I’ve ever had. :(
.
However, Jenn was such a darlin’. She actually requested the restaurant owner to pack some of the fish soup and gave us some good tips on how to reheat the soup. It’s kinda like tomyam soup. Just need to throw in some noodles and chinese cabbage. Voila! A full yummilious meal ready for enjoyment.

Some of the contented folks after stuffing their stomachs with the good food.

And Sweetheart got me a little excited when he started showing off his tongue skills. *LOL*

Thankfully, we’ve had enough fun lately. So since I was not fun-deprived, watching him with his tongue gimmicks did not drive me nuts like they sometimes do. Keke…
.
The drive back to Penang was looonnngggg. We were so exhausted from all the weekend excitement that we KO-ed in the backseat of the car. Falling asleep in each other’s arms seems to be our fav pastime now. Heh…
.
We’ve another out-of-Penang food trip scheduled next weekend. Not sure if we’re heading to the same little town or to another small town in Southern Kedah/Northern Perak.
.
Oh well, wherever it is, we’ll have loads of fun and wonderful experiences. It’s always about the company, ain’t it? ;)
