KT Trip - Day 2

Day 2 started late for us.
.
Ori plan was to wake up for mass at 9am but considering that we thani-ed till the wee hours of the morning, none of us could get up in time for morning mass.
.
We ended up sleeping till lunch time. Was supposed to pick up another group from the KT airport but our rented car got hijacked by the groom and the boys. So, we were stranded at our hotel. It worked out alright for me coz that just meant more cuddle time with Sweetheart! ;)
.
We headed to a Chinese hawker place for lunch. Here’s KT Chinese hawker food.
.
Kt_food
.
Of coz they were no comparison to Penang hawker food but I kinda liked the Wan Thun Mee. It was actually comparable to our Wan Thun Mee back home. The rest were only so-so. Nothing much to shout about, really - but we were hungry. So, beggars can’t be choosers.
.
After lunch, it was back to our hotel to freshen up (the sun is mighty mean in KT!) and get ready for the church wedding.
.
There wasn’t sufficient time to nap after that but there sure was enough time for some O’s! *wink wink* :)))
.
More pix and updates coming up for Day 2.

KT Trip - Day 1 (cont.)

When the sun set on our Day 1 @ KT, the Fun began for us!
.
After a couple hours of recuperation at the hotel, we headed out for the night’s agenda which was :
.
- Dinner at the groom’s
- Rehearsal at the church
- Supper and thani time back at the groom’s
.
Here are some pictures taken during dinner and at church rehearsal. As seen in below pix, we could never stop goofing around…even at church! *shame shame*
.

*Click on picture for larger view*
.
All the goofing around tired us out real fast and by the time we were done with church rehearsal, we were feeling peckish again. So, it was back to the groom’s for supper…and thani! :D
.
And as seen in below pix, we had a ball thani-ing with the groom’s family. Mom, dad, sis and bro were all there - the entire Pakiam clan and damn, they drink like fishes!
.

.
The singing (will post the videos in FB soon), the thani-ing, the goofing around - they pretty much drained us all out.
.
They say there are no clubs in KT. S’kay, we brought the clubs to KT! :) It was just about lights-on time at the clubs by the time we headed back to our hotel. Needless to say, we KO-ed as soon as our heads hit the pillows that night.
.
More posts to come on Day 2, 3 and 4.

KT Trip - Day 1

Since our aircraft was less than 50% full (read : no folks to cuci mata), we decided to amuse ourselves during the short Penang-KT flight by camwhoring.
.
We took some pretty good and damn hillarious shots but for the safety (emotional and physical) of a certain someone, best that we keep those pix for the eyes of the gang only. *sorry*
.
So, I will just share these pics.
.
On_firefly
.
Yes, us goofing around as usual enroute to KT.
.
KT Airport was impressive. They definitely spent alot of taxpayers’ money on it. We were told by our car rental guy that it’s very new. Man, we can still smell the paint on the walls.
.
Rented car is a Wira Auto. I hate Wira. Never liked them but ain’t gonna get too choosy in this foreign place. Sweetheart will be driving it most of the time anyways.
.
Met the family of the groom at the groom’s place before we headed to fill our tummies with lunch. Then, it was off to our hotel.
.
Our hotel. Not a luxurious 5-star hotel but we had no expectations. So, all’s good. It’s clean and that’s what matters the most. Bed is kinda hard but it’s OK. Will be snuggling up to Sweetheart anyways. :)
.
Plan later tonight is to have dinner with the groom’s family and then, ‘thani’ time! :D
.
Wedding events (church, reception, banquet) will be tomorrow. Today, at least we get a short holiday in KT. Fun time with good friends, checking out this foreign place, jalan-jalan cari makan, and of coz, time off work and with folks I love.
.
More updates to come. Stay tuned.

Get set, ready….

Today was our last work-day for the week and it’s all goooooood. :)))
.
Unfortunately, we had to skip gym tonight. :(  Considering that we’re gonna be out of town for the next few days, Sweetheart requested that we have dinner with his mom at home. So we spent some quality family time with his mommy dearest. Nice as always. :) After dinner, it was packing time.
.
I have to travel with my laptop though. Can’t be work-free during the last few crucial days before my program launch date. Hopefully, no major crisis comes up that’ll cause me to miss out on the wedding and the fun time with friends.
*keep fingers tightly crossed*
.
Will try to take as many pix as possible to share, ok?
.
Not sure if I will have the chance to update this space but I will do my best. That’s all I can promise for now. :)
.
Have a good rest of the week, y’all.

Nail Art

Remember the birthday gal from my earlier post?
.
Well, I just realised over the weekend that she is super talented! Not just super but like SUPER super! The eye for detail, the creativity, the strong and firm hold, the patience … fuyoh!
.
Here’s proof of her superb skill.
.
Hand
.
I told her that she should freelance ‘cos there is soooo much money there. Every time I visit the nail saloon for my pedicure, it’s always packed with customers who are there for nail art.
.
It looks simple and easy to do but trust me, it’s not! I sat there for TWO whole hours waiting for her to complete her masterpiece.
.
I showed my nails off to the folks at the office and everyone was oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over them. Even the guys noticed my nail accessory and in the midst of a discussion, one of my project team mates stopped to ask "Eleen, your nails are winking at me!" *LOL*
.
Yes, women are such Vain Pots. :)))

KABOOM-ed!

Ingredients :
4 parts Guiness Stout
1 part Bailey’s

.
Method :
Dump the shot of Bailey’s into the Stout and down it all in one gulp.

.
End-result :
.
Kaboom
.
These are the 3 unlucky guys who had their shots taken after getting Kaboom-ed countless times. The rest of us survived the night with zero KO-shots, although we were hopelessly OD-ed by as early as 2am.
.
What a lethal weekend!
.
P/S - I had to call for SOS maid to clean up my apartment after the crazee weekend. So go figure how it really went. ;)

Happy Birthday, Mei Ling!

Remember that little secret I had?
.
It’s actually 2-pronged.

  1. The surprise birthday party.
  2. The FUN we get to have during the party.

I couldn’t write much about it coz I know the birthday gal visits this space regularly…but now that it’s over and done with, I can shout out to the rest of the world! :D
.
Firstly, the Surprise.
.
With my partner-in-crime aka her dear, we planned for friends to gather at my place while waiting for them to return from their Ipoh day-trip.
.
It went pretty well. She was totally clueless - even when she saw the many folks at my place. Thinking it was another regular cooking session at my place, she hadn’t the faintest idea that we were all gathered at my place for HER.
.
Then, a late-comer arrived and shouted "Surprise!" to everyone’s horror! The surprise, which was hidden in my fridge, wasn’t revealed then.
.
The awkward moment lasted all of 3 seconds before someone coughed and made a silly sound, someone else tried to tell a joke, and the birthday gal soon forgot abt the shout of "Surprise!".
.
When we finally brought out the surprise, which was her fav - Strawberry Cheesecake from Haagen Dazs, the look on her face was priceless!
.
Here’s the birthday gal.
.
Bday_gal
.
Secondly, the FUN.
.
Hmmm…how should I describe that? Let’s just say everyone OD-ed on it and KO-ed rather fast. One minute I was laughing with some friends at the balcony and the next minute I was in my room with Sweetheart next to me. Stumbled out of my room and saw a few folks KO-ed on the couch, on the beanbag and in the activity room. Oh well, I climbed back into bed and was soon fast asleep again, snuggled warmly against my man.
.
Here are some shots taken when everyone was still sober and conscious.
.
Frenz
.
Can you spot the birthday gal? ;)

Ravioli Rendezvous

I call it Ravioli. WP calls it Italian Wonton. Whatever we call it, it’s the same thing.
.
I’ve always been fascinated with how it’s made and ever since I got the pasta-making machine for my birthday present years ago from my Cali ex, I’ve been dreaming of making my own ravioli.
.
Finally, after eons of building Italian castles in the air, we got to realize this long-time dream last weekend.
.
We pooled together some good friends, prepared the dough and started the FUN!
.
Collage_9
.
As seen in above bottom right picture, the chefs got abit bored with the same shape and decided to get their creative juices flowing. One came up with the karipap shape, another came up with the xiu long bao (soup dumpling) shape. I personally prefer the ori rectangular shape.
.
The Filling :
Minced chicken, diced water chestnuts, cheese, herbs, salt & pepper.
.
The Sauce :
Tomato puree, finely chopped sweet basil, salt & pepper.
.
The Verdict :
Dough not rolled thin enough. Tasted the dough more than the filling. Not yummy. :(
.
The Consolation :
The sauce was splendid. Folks were licking off the sauce and leaving the ravioli behind on their plates.
.
Lesson learnt - Need to roll the dough thinner.
.
Overall, a GREAT experience. We had more fun making it than eating it. Hmmm..wonder if it was a case of ‘too many cooks spoil the dish’;)
.
P/S - Thank God for the backup plan. Jap beef curry is getting to be a crowd fav. It was polished off in seconds!

WOW! Weekend

The weekend was a WHIRLWIND of crazy and fun activities.
.
Realising some fantasies, great chilling with great buddies, did some super naughty stuff, experimenting with a new Italian dish, new release at the gym, exciting preparations for our KT trip next week … these are amongst some of the many to-be-cherished-forever experiences we managed to squeeze into the past 2 days. Unfortunately, we had to cancel on a poolside BBQ with some Iranian friends because there was only so many activities to be cramped into the weekend.
.
LOADS of pictures to share from the weekend but no time to view or edit them. So, can’t share them yet. Be patient, ok? Will definitely share them within the next few days.
.
Someone up there must be in a really good mood to have granted us such a fabulous weekend. :)))
.
Stay tuned. There’ll definitely be loads of updates in this space in the next few days. Hopefully, work doesn’t get too consuming.

Race to the Finish Line

"We’re down to 11 days before launch…Please stay sharply focused and engaged in these last few days. We are almost there!! Cannot afford to slip up now!!! Thanks for everything…" - Email from my boss to our team.
.
Now and then, last minute issues kept cropping up here and there. Giving us the occasional heart-attack when a particular issue seems to threaten the June 30th launch date. Thankfully, we managed to contain all of those issues and stick to our original schedule. Phew.
.
One thing’s for sure, though.
My 2 days off next week for the KT wedding will not be work-free.
.
Can’t afford to shut down on work during the last few crucial laps of the race. Hopefully, no super last minute crisis crops up. Or I will end up working from the KT hotel room instead of having fun at the wedding banquet hall. :\

Happy Feet in Penang

Back in February when I visited the Kenko Fish Spa in KL, I knew that it’ll be a matter of time before some entrepreneurial folks bring it to the North shores.
.
True enough, I received an email from a galfriend asking if we should go check out Happy Feet. Obviously, we’re not talking about the 2006 Australian-produced animated musical film.
.
We’re talking about this.
.
Happyfeet
*Click on picture for a larger version*
.
It opened its doors for business at one of Penang’s chic hangout spots - New World Park. There was actually an introductory promotion (June 13th - 18th) which slashed the price by a full RM10 but that’s long over. However, the non-promotional price at RM28 is still cheaper than the price I paid Kenko (RM35) for my 30 mins of feet exfoliation. But then again, Penangites are known for our frugality. :)
.
I didn’t enjoy the weird, ticklish experience when I visited Kenko, so doubt that I will pay another RM28 for a Happy Feet experience. Personally, I’d rather add another RM20 on top of the RM28 to get a full and proper pedicure. But that’s just me. Those of you who have yet to get your fish spa experience, do go ahead and check out Happy Feet.
.
It seems a fair number of Penangites have checked it out already. Read about it here and here.
.
Happy exfoliating! ^0^

World Sorry Saying Day

Got this forwarded email from Sweetheart today. Found it silly, but in a cute sorta way. He must be really stressed from work to have this need to forward silly, cute emails like this. Especially when he forwards it to a slew of folks. *lol*
.
Here is how the email went :-
.
Today is "World Sorry Saying Day".
.
Hamster
.
So …
If I have hurt you anytime, anywhere…
If my emails are disturbing you…
If I have bugged you…
Then seriously…
I wanna say just these 3 words…
.
"I SHALL CONTINUE!"

.
Adorably funny, if I look at it one way.
Sad, if I look at it another way.

I got Poi-ed! :D

It’s Wednesday night.
I’m hit with a bad case of mid-week blues. Work was tedious with a capital T.
.
Then, just as I was about to call it a day, an unexpected text came in. From someone we just met last weekend. (Well, I met him earlier but we were not officially introduced till last weekend) Someone who just moved from KL to Penang. Someone who’s kinda cute and also kinda scandalous. *chuckle*
.
Text # 1 : "When r the party animals gonna hit the town again? Count me in ya! :D"
Text # 2 : "I’ll get my liver ready!"
.
I forwarded the texts to Sweetheart and he couldn’t stop LOL-ing.
.
Looks like some partying are in order this weekend.
Well, I’m not complaining! :)))

*Ssshhhhhhh*

I have a little secret.
.
That was conceived from a late-night discussion with someone. It’s something that needs some planning, and bringing together some good friends - to share the secret.
.
I shared that secret with Sweetheart today and he got excited.
.
"OooooOOOooo, you’re serious, baby? We will get *toot* this weekend? Reeeally or not?"
.
I had to calm him down and asked him to wait a few more days. For more plans to take shape and more concrete details to be made available. Then, we will make the announcement to our buddies.
.
After all, it’s our last weekend before we make our KT trip. Some high level of tolerance are definitely in order for that trip. As much as one may deny it, any sh!t that happens affect all those around them - friends and family alike. And I do know, as much as I wish I don’t.
.
*Keep fingers tightly crossed that nothing screws up our delicious plan*

Cosmopolitan

When the first thing I have to say at the start of the meeting is -
.
"Depending on where you’re at … Good morning, Good afternoon and Good evening, everyone!"
.
- I knew then that my job is truly global.
.
The good side of it is, there’s always something new to learn each day. In other words, I never get the chance to be bored. The down side of it is, time becomes irrelevant. Be it 8pm or 5am. Work is work.
.
Thankfully, I love the challenge. So, bring it on! :>

Brotherly Love

"Hey sis! Was walking around on Orchard Road and chanced upon some cool stuff. I could immediately picture them sitting in your bar. And I am sure you will like ‘em. So, am gonna send them over to you, ok?"
.
Distance works best between us. When we are on the same island, we are constantly at each other’s throats. When we are miles apart, we are tight. Yup, that’s my brother and I. :D
.
Here are the stuff he got me from Kheper Games.
.
Test Tube Shooters!
.

…and these cool 3D shot glasses.

Will definitely put them to good use for my next party. Perhaps this year’s X’mas party?

Thanks, bro! :)))

Daddy’s Day

For the chance at Life,
For the lessons on growing up,
For the laughter and tears,
For the unconditional love,
For the sacrifies,
For the carefree childhood memories,
For the important lessons on trust,
For the free rein on my own beliefs,
For the help to mould me into who I am today,
And for all that you believed in me …
.
Happy Father’s Day, dad.

A tantalizing weekend

The weekends are getting too precious. Too few weekends in a month to squeeze our plans into, and too short a time each weekend lasts. :\
.
One more weekend and we are off to the land nicknamed ‘Darul Iman’. Two good buddies are getting hitched and a bunch of us are taking our maiden Firefly flight to celebrate their big day.
.
Although we’re only gonna be there for 2 short days, I am getting worried about how to pack for the short trip. Tips taken from Wikitravel :
.
"…Long sleeves are preferable for women, and outfits which show the shoulders and midriff should be avoided. The watchword is modesty. Tourists dressed in shorts and skimpy tops are really out of place in this state…"
.
No spaghetti-strap tops, no shorts, no tubes, no bareback dresses. Aiyohhh…have to go shopping! :(
.
So, off we went to QBM today to get some Trengganu-friendly clothes. We ended up spending the bulk of our time at La SENZA and Borders. Yea yea…not really the kinda places to prep us for our trip but hey, one could never have too many sexy undergarments nor books, rite? ;)
.
After the first few minutes of browsing through their new arrivals, my head was spinning with the many choices tantalising me. I then made the mistake of asking Sweetheart which ones he prefers. Had to ignore his answer and make my own selections. I mean, a woman can’t go bra-less ALL the time! We still need our support, y’know. :p
.
Instead of the fanciful-looking ones, I opted for the comfy cotton ones and this time, I ignored the usual boring black and went for vermillion and turquoise blue.
.
Nice?
.
……………Lasenza
.
Me likey. Sweetheart likey that I likey. That’s all that matters, I guess.
.
Guess we’ll have to make another attempt to shop for Trengganu-friendly attire next weekend.

Unforgettable Friday 13th Nite

Early Friday evening, all 10 of us got together to share some good laughter with Po - the fat, lazy, black-n-white slob who aspires to be a martial arts shifu in the latest animated film by Paramount Pictures.
.
A certain someone (you know who you are :D) wouldn’t stop reminding us all not to make fun of his belly anymore. That he’s gonna turn his gut into a strong weapon like our young Po. Yeah rrrrighhhtt! :P
.
As we were waiting for the whole gang to turn up, we bumped into another Po fan who was there to watch it for the 2nd time. Poor guy was kept waiting by his movie mates, looking like this …
.
Dsc00366_1
.
So, I decided to cheer him up and asked him to smile for me. All I did was ask about his popcorn. That did the trick. I’ve never seen a guy who loves popcorn as much as this guy.
.
Dsc00365_1
.
Hope you enjoyed the movie the second round too, and that your mates didn’t keep you waiting for too long. :)
.
After the movie, we went for late dinner and then, it was off to meet more friends. It started out slow but it didn’t stay slow for long. We ended up hogging the entire VIP area to ourselves. We were all having a ball of a time. *hic*
.
In fact, Sweetheart had so much fun that for the first time in a long, long time, he OD-ed. Some friends had to help him back into our car and I had to tuck him into his own bed before making my way back home.
.
He woke up, found himself alone in his own bed, called me and grumbled :
"I woke up at 9am and couldn’t go back to sleep. Couldn’t find you next to me to cuddle. *pout*"
.
Ok baby, we’ll definitely find some cuddle time over the weekend. *kiss*
.
I don’t know about you guys but I had the BEST Friday the 13th! :)))

His Thoughts

"I don’t need to see to know what you think I don’t know. Even though you may confess much, much later … I already knew long before your confession. I also knew you left out bits here and there. Either to save me the heartache, or to save yourself the embarrassment. It doesn’t really matter. I was already hurt. I told you it’s OK because I knew it would make you feel better. And I also knew that you were young, and needed to explore. But understand that I cannot be your rock forever. No matter how strong any rock is, it will eventually crack. So, when I finally cracked, I don’t get why you lost it. And when I moved on (which is eventual too), why you took it so badly. I deserve my happiness too. And yes, despite all that you have put me through, I still care about you. And I am doing what I am doing now for myself. Not for you. Not for anybody else, but for ME. It’s not guilt that drives it. It’s demons from my past that I need to fight. You are a means to an end. I am sorry but that’s just the way it is."
.
Thoughts in his mind as he goes through the motion of counting his blessings for the good AND bad things in his Life. At least now - he has love. Real love.

Superwoman Wannabe

You know situations when you go "Bah, this kinda crap only happens in the movies or to others. Not to me!"?
.
Well, I had a first degree encounter with it tonight.
.
Body took a bad hit with the many late night calls and crazy work pattern for the past weeks. 1 hour prior to my global con-call tonight, I decided to pop some medicated pills and take a short nap. That supposed 1-hr nap turned into a THREE hour slumber! The blardy meds I took was so strong that it knocked me out and made me totally dead to the world. :(
.
Woke up feeling like this …
.
Bleh_1
.
The only 2 spotlights in the dark picture right now are :

  • My daily updates to my UK and US team mates made it super easy for them to slip into my Asia Pacific shoes and present on my behalf to the global team.
  • Sweetheart called (after getting my distressed text) to calm me down and promised mucho TLC tomorrow and over the weekend.

.
Am sooooooo glad the weekend is in sight! It seems to be the thin thread that holds my sanity in check these days.
.
I love my job and my team. I just wish that during exciting times like now when we’re near a program launch-date, I can transform into a Superwoman and forgo rest. *wish*

Not A Happenstance

‘Global’ - what does that word mean?
.
It means everyONE and everyTHING that is on this globe. Doesn’t matter which contingent one is at. As long as one is living and breathing on this thing we call Earth, it’s applicable.
.
"Oh but Eleen, global is global. Japan is Japan. We will not look at anything that is global. We will only review Japan stuffs."
.

Did I go to sleep last night and wake up with Japan on another globe from the rest of us?
.
Stress is a horrible thing. It kills us mentally. It drives us to do things we don’t normally do. It gives out negative vibes to those around us. In a nutshell, I don’t like it.
.
Thankfully, there are 3 things in this Universe that serve as stress-busters for me.

  1. Baskin Robbins (BR) Ice Cream
  2. Working out at the gym
  3. Ahem-time with Sweetheart

Although I have been sadly deprived of my BR ice cream of late, I have at least been getting sufficient supply of the other 2. That means, I am happily balanced up. :)
.
However, at the rate that the Japs kept pushing my hot buttons, it will be a matter of days before I blow my top. And btw, I can play dirty too. And be mean. Really mean. And the many ‘unpleasant’ things that may surface, will definitely not be pure chance.
.

Squidward Sweetheart

Someone recently remarked that my Sweetheart reminded her of a character from her favourite cartoon - SpongeBob SquarePants.
.
I thought it was comical … until I took this picture of him last Sunday. Then I realised the striking resemblance.
.
See below and tell me what you think.
.
Squidward_tentacles_1
.
The irony is, he hates squids.
.
We go for our favourite mee sotong at the Esplanade food court and he transfers all the ’sotong’ to me. I, on the other hand, transfer half of my ‘mee’ to him. Yes, we do make the perfect couple. When it comes to food … and others. ;)
.
Hehe…I may get into trouble for putting this one up today. But hey, a little love here and there goes a loooonnnggg way. :D

Our # 1 Camwhore

To quote a certain someone today :
.
"…I admit that I am indeed a "Whore"… I look back those photo also I beh tahan…"
.
So, to celebrate this day when our very own Camwhore finally admits that he is "indeed a whore", I put together some pictures taken over the past few years and presented it to him.
.
1_camwhore
.
I am pretty darn sure that these pics are gonna make his many fan-sie swoon and drool. And his #1 fan is so gonna turn this into her wallpaper at work! ;)
.
We know, you know, they know - yet, she doesn’t know. Pity, eh. But then again, I believe she is suffering more from denial than from ignorance.

Jalan-Jalan Cari Makan : NT

Eight good friends packed into 2 cars to drive across the Penang Bridge to the mainland in search of some good, inexpensive food.
.
About 30 minutes after crossing the bridge, we saw this sign that also tells us that dinner is near.
.
Nt_highway_sign
.
After taking Exit 156, we drove another 10 minutes before reaching our destination. It’s a small coffee shop in the middle of Nibong Tebal (高渊) town. We saw lotsa folks sitting around coffee shops having their dinner. Someone (I think it was Dan) made an observation that folks in small towns have their dinners early, as in by 5-ish to 6-ish. City folks like us have our dinners late. 7ish at the earliest but usually 8-ish.
.
Dinner was :

  • Tu Boh S’ng (Steamed Octopus), similar to the one they serve at Teow Chew Meng
  • Deep fried kembung fish with freshly squeezed lemon juice.
  • Steamed promphret
  • Bamboo mussels
  • Deep Fried Tiger Prawns
  • Potato leaves fried with sambal
  • Crab Porridge (the town’s speciality)

.
Here are some pictures of our dinner and the restaurant.
.

.
And here are some pictures of the happy friends enjoying good food in the laidback town of Nibong Tebal.
.
Happy_frenz
.
Either we were really hungry or the guys are really good eaters. We ordered ALOT of food (had some repeat orders too!) and yet, all that was left on the table by the time we raised the white flag was this…
.
*Note* A lot of empty plates were cleared to make room for more dishes to be served. These are just the empty plates from the final dish.
.
The_aftermath_1
.
One would think that we’d all be too stuffed to have dessert. One would be sooooo wrong! The guys then started talking about where to head to for dessert. I was about to put up a brave protest - until someone mentioned the magic word : Baskin Robbins. It would be committing cardinal sin to say No to that. :\
.
So, off we drove to Juru Auto City in search of BR. A certain someone insisted, yes…INSISTED that there is a BR outlet in AutoCity. (U know who you are. :P) So, all 8 of us braved the huge crowd who was there to watch the vintage car parade and walked around searching for the sign below.
.
Br
.
After some time walking around, we started cursing the AutoCity autorities for not having the brains to put up some kind of directory around that place. I mean, it’s a couple of blocks to walk around. And it’s annoying to walk down the entire block to find that the place we are looking for is not on that block. So, off we started again on a new block.
.
After awhile, we gave up and decided to ask one of the security guards. He pointed us to Swensen’s and to the below.
.
Haagen_dazs .
No need any lucky guesses to know which one we picked. :)
.
One of the guys turned 30 this week. So, we made earlier plans to get him a birthday cake and celebrated his day after our NT makan-makan. We made so much noise laughing and talking that other customers were giving us weird looks. I think we will not be going back there anytime soon. Would most probably see posters of our faces crossed out at the door. Teehee…
.
Welcome to the club, Werner. The ride just keeps getting better and better from here on! :D

Pictures of the delirious friends after attacking the fondue. Someone blamed it on the sugar rush. I blame it on just plain ol’ FUN company.

Half of the gang had subsequent evening plans. So, we re-divided the group and 4 of us piled into our car to head back to the island. The remaining 4 decided to hang around AutoCity.
.
Some folks pissed me off just as we started the 2nd part of our Saturday night, but only for a short while. I refused to let them spoil my night. It started out perfect and I wanted it to end perfect. So, I just let the incident slide and enjoyed the company of some close friends and my Sweetheart.
.
By the time I crawled into bed, I think I saw the small hand on the clock pointing to 5. With a smile plastered on my face, I drifted off to sweet Dreamland.
.
Yes, it was indeed a perfect Saturday evening. Thanks, folks! *muah*

P.O.L.E. Fitness

I wanted to blog about this some weeks back but got so carried away with all the exciting stuff (my Op, the new friends, the jalan-jalan cari makan, the having FUN, etc..) till I totally forgot about this exciting ‘discovery’.
.
Some email exchanges between friends today reminded me of it.
.
Found out that the Wonderful World of Pole Dancing has been discovered in the heart of our capital city (Desa Sri Hartamas, to be exact). Some friends registered for the classes and swore they provide the puurrrfect combination of great workout, groovy music, fun times and most importantly, Sexiness unleashed!
.
So I made some enquiries and Kitty-Cat (yes, I love her nick too :D) responded with some details.
.
Thanks to Viva Vertical, this new form of exercise is hitting Penang shores soon (as early as this month!) and here are the details.

  • Portable poles are used for the lessons
  • Small, private groups are encouraged to ensure effectiveness and safe experiences for all participants
  • No fixed schedule
  • No enrollment fee
  • Two options for fee structure :
    (i) RM80/hour maximum 2 participants to a pole
(ii) RM100/hour maximum 4 participants to a pole
    - Both options are excluding studio rental (location of participants’ choice)

.
Essentially, it involves exotic grooving by making use of the chair, wall, mirror and the floor to form an exciting choreography.
.
Here’s a picture of how much fun one can have while blasting some calories and toning some muscles.

Interested? I know I am!!! Am waiting for Kitty-Cat to let me know when the portable poles are arriving in Penang. :)))
.

Oh … One more important piece of info. It is open for men too!
.
So guys, want to train and build upper body and core strength? Want to improve coordination, stabilization and cardiovascular fitness?
This is your answer to getting rid of the unsightly beer bellies and/or love handles! :P

Fluff-a-licious

Remember my favourite BW store?
.
These folks put a smile on my face every month, and it kept that same satisfied smile on my Sweetheart’s face every month too. :)))
.
Charmaine and Sonia, thanks for making it worthwhile for me to stay on this little paradise island. No more tiring monthly trips to KL or Singapore just to get my BW fixes. I love you ladies to bits and will be hopelessly lost without your loving touch every month. *muah*
.
This month, they gave me an even bigger reason to smile.
.
Just as I was walking out of the therapy room, Sonia walked up to me with a huge smile on her face and this in her hand, saying "Surprise! This is for you, Eleen."

Excitedly, I opened it up to see this.

A free Chanel Spa Manicure! Woohoo!!! Talk about being pampered, eh. :D
.
One whole year has flown by already? OMG. Time really flies when we’re having fun, eh? Can’t believe I’ve actually been seeing these ladies every single month for the past year. Talk about being faithful. Hehe…
.
Happy Birthday, Fluff!
I look forward to the party Sonia promised us! :D

End of deprivation

Parents got back from Medan late yesterday. Got a call from them in the middle of my con-calls last night to announce that they are back AND they got me something to restock my bar.
.
How cool can they be? Lurve them to bits! :X
.
They got me something else too : A spice-flavored multilayered cake. What the Indons call the ‘Lapis Legit‘. I cut half of it and brought it over to Sweetheart’s place. Upon learning that it came all the way from North Sumatera, his mom’s eyes lit up and she went "Layered cake originated from there. So, it must be reeeally good! Thanks so much!!!". Wow. Didn’t know a cake could rock her boat so hard! Hehe… Oh well, whatever that makes her happy makes me happy. :)
.
And today, is the day I am returning to the gym. After an entire week’s hiatus. Am excited, worried and apprehensive - all bunched into one. Hopefully, I will be able to survive the 2 solid hours of Pump and Abs. *pray*
.
Pray for me too?

Indulgence

I love my job. Mainly because I have the flexibility of working from wherever and at whenever I want. Well, not all but most of the time.
.
Today, I decided to work from home. For the entire morning, I lost track of time as I worked furiously away at my laptop and my phone - the 2 most important tools in my worklife now.
.
Got jolted out of my work-mode when Sweetheart called to tell me that he’s bringing home some homecooked mutton curry for lunch. Thanks to Floe and Brian’s generosity, we got to enjoy his mom’s homecooked food. :)
.
So, excited me quickly hopped into my kitchen to cook some rice. Shortly after, Sweetheart arrived with these mouth-watering food.
.
Mutton Tikka (dry mutton curry with lots of India spices)

…and Bharta (meshed brinjal in chilli - my fav!)

.
Since he made me so happy by bringing home such good food for lunch today, I decided to reward him by whipping up his all-time favourite dish.
.

.
Consequently, I ate too much again today. :(
Been eating so much this past week that it’s begining to send me down Guilt Lane. No gym for the entire of last week and pigging away some more. Arghh.
.
Can’t wait to get back to the gym tomorrow!

Across the Seas

Right till past 5pm, we still couldn’t decide if we wanna cook Sunday dinner. Finally, it was decided that we will do something different this week.
.
So, it was decided that we will join a group of friends and head out of Penang for dinner. It soon turned out to be an evening of mixed emotions for us.
.
We got reminded of how lackadaisical some folks can be. Of how unashamedly the term ‘Malaysian timing’ is constantly used. So folks, please please PLEASE stick to the schedule you committed to others. Otherwise, don’t commit. It makes you lose your credibility with others. :P
.
Thankfully, the good food made up for the less-than-impressive timing.
.
The drive from Penang to Serdang was slightly more than an hour. By the time we got to the restaurant, it was about 9.30pm. Thank God for the BR ice cream Sweetheart thoughtfully bought for me while waiting for those folks to show up.
.
Alot of folks are unaware that there are 2 Serdang’s in Malaysia. One in Kedah and one in Selangor. The one in Kedah is known for its ‘fried porridge’ dish while the one in Selangor is known for housing UPM.
.
Here is the signboard that greeted us as we stumbled out of the car to stretch our numb legs after the hour-long drive.
.

.
The wait for our food was fairly short, thank God.
Here’s dinner.

.
My favourite was the fish. Unfortunately, it was the last dish to arrive and by then, I was 90% full. Not much space left for the best ‘kiam sooi’ (salty-sourish) catfish I’ve ever had. :(
.
However, Jenn was such a darlin’. She actually requested the restaurant owner to pack some of the fish soup and gave us some good tips on how to reheat the soup. It’s kinda like tomyam soup. Just need to throw in some noodles and chinese cabbage. Voila! A full yummilious meal ready for enjoyment.
.
Some of the contented folks after stuffing their stomachs with the good food.

.
And Sweetheart got me a little excited when he started showing off his tongue skills. *LOL*
.

.
Thankfully, we’ve had enough fun lately. So since I was not fun-deprived, watching him with his tongue gimmicks did not drive me nuts like they sometimes do. Keke…
.
The drive back to Penang was looonnngggg. We were so exhausted from all the weekend excitement that we KO-ed in the backseat of the car. Falling asleep in each other’s arms seems to be our fav pastime now. Heh…
.
We’ve another out-of-Penang food trip scheduled next weekend. Not sure if we’re heading to the same little town or to another small town in Southern Kedah/Northern Perak.
.
Oh well, wherever it is, we’ll have loads of fun and wonderful experiences. It’s always about the company, ain’t it? ;)
